Have you been searching the ends of the earth for the right High School for your child and haven’t found any?
Can it perhaps be because you’ve been looking at the wrong places?
What if I tell you that you don’t have to leave your house to give the best High School education to your child?
Don’t be shocked, but I believe the best place for your child’s High School education is in your home.
Interested? Then read on.
Perhaps you’re wondering who I am.
My name is Bo Sanchez, Founder of the Catholic Filipino Academy (CFA). But more than that, I’m a father of two growing boys, Benedict and Francis.
In 2005, when our eldest son was 5 years old, my wife and I decided to homeschool him. It was a big leap of faith. And we’ve never looked back. All these past years, we’ve homeschooled both of our sons, and we’ve never regretted our decision. Through homeschooling, Bene and Francis have grown so much. Not only in their academics, but more importantly, in their values.
Can I brag? Today, as we homeschool our eldest son Bene in High School, we’re already seeing how his core gifts are blooming. He’s a confident public speaker, a fantastic writer, and a passionate musician. I also love the fact that he loves to read. The size of his library rivals my library! His appetite for learning is voracious.
Okay, that’s enough stuff about my kids.
Let’s now talk about you and your teen.
Let me give you the solution that you may be looking for…
Catholic Filipino Academy’s High School Program
If you have been looking, and searching, and trying so hard to find the best secondary education school for your teenager, we have a solution which in fact in my opinion is the best.
And what is that? The High School Program of the Catholic Filipino Academy. Here in this article, I will share with you great reasons why you should enroll your child into this Program.
First, why Catholic Filipino Academy (CFA)?
Because CFA is the first “pure” Homeschool Provider here in the Philippines that’s Catholic. Since 2006, we’ve been providing homeschooling parents with a DepEd-approved Curriculum, offering DepEd recognized diplomas to our graduating students through our sister school, Barcelona Academy.
Second, why homeschool during High School? Shouldn’t High School be a time for your child to enter the “real world” of a regular school? Why deprive him or her of these real life lessons?
Here’s my answer: Who says homeschooling isn’t the real world? You won’t be depriving your child but fulfilling his or her needs in the BEST possible way. Your child will be brimming with knowledge, talents, virtues, and skills needed in life, including socialization (more on this later).
The teenage years are the time when your child’s personality unfolds and grows. This delicate, beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity should not be wasted. Don’t leave this to chance. Guide your teen. Spend time with your son or daughter. Be deliberate in shaping, guiding, and training your teenager to reach his or her highest potential.
My friend, Lizette Paman, is our CFA High School Principal. She loves what she does! Reason: She was passionate about homeschooling her own kids through High School. Here’s her sharing in her own words…
Homeschooling during High School has been a great blessing for my family. It was during this time and in this environment that the Lord called my four children to know Him personally and to make their own personal decisions to follow Him. Since they studied at home, their only exposure to peers was their Catholic youth group. I believe that because of this, it was easier for the Lord to get their undivided attention and He was more able to form their hearts for Him. They were not exposed to different values that are so prevalent among teenagers in High Schools today. They have the luxury of having a longer time every day for prayer and bible study. They also have more time for service and enjoy it very much!
In terms of academics, I have found it easier to homeschool in High School than in Grade School because they can now work independently and do research on their own. And with the online resources that are available, they won’t be left behind at all.
My two older sons are going to enter college already. When I look at them, I know that they wouldn’t have the confidence and the values they have now if it had not been for the years of homeschooling in High School.
Here in CFA High School, we made an amazing curriculum where we focus on true learning, ministry, as well as connecting each student to God and others.
We Tackle Each Subject In A Different Way
CFA High School Program is not “school-as-usual.”
Let me give you an example of what I mean.
In the subjects English and Filipino, you just don’t want to teach your child grammar. You want to help your child grow in practical writing—the kind of writing your son or daughter will actually use in their future work. You’ll encourage them to write a blog, magazine articles, short stories, business letters, even Ad copywriting. To evaluate your teen’s writing, we’ll be asking professional magazine editors to check their work.
When it comes to History, it’s not just about memorizing pointless facts and dates. Instead, you want your child to tackle critical thinking on current events, differentiating fact from opinion, and letting them appreciate our immensely rich Philippine culture.
And if you do Science the CFA way, it will be far from boring. You’ll let your kids experiment and explore their fantastic world. CFA will provide supplementary lessons so your child does not miss out on laboratory experiments. We will also organize exciting field trips for your child.
And Algebra shouldn’t be the mindless memorizing of formulas. You want to create a passion for logical thinking, which will instill confidence to tackle problems, not only in math, but in daily life as well.
In Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), you want to awaken in your child the budding Entrepreneur within. You want to plant small seeds that will bloom to great success in the future. We’ll provide you with resources so you can help your child start businesses, create money-making projects, and yes, learn how to invest in the Stock Market at an early age.
For Physical Education (P.E.), you want to help your child bond more with other homeschooled kids (or other children) through sports. (Get them out to play under the sun—so they don’t just sit in front of a computer screen and facebook all day.)
And most importantly, for Christian Living Education (CLE), you don’t want your child to just learn facts about our religion (though that is crucial too). First of all, you want them to deepen their relationship with God. You also want them to live out their faith—through active ministry work. CFA will recommend various options for your child to use his or her talents to serve God and His people.
It’s Awesome Day Every Wednesday
If you think that a homeschool program lacks peer socialization, think again. If you live in Metro Manila, we require all our High School students to gather on our “Awesome Day” every Wednesday. Trained teachers will help them in more complex subjects (such as High School Math). And on this special day, they’ll also do other fun stuff together—Science, CLE, Entrepreneurship, Music, and Sports!

Yes, Homeschooling isn’t for everyone. It requires a special dedication on the part of the parents.
But I believe that if you have what it takes to Homeschool your child (and I know many parents do), then this program will unlock the potential of your child in a way that no regular school can.
To know if homeschooling is for you and your child, attend our HS Orientation Session.
May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez
